About Us
MISSION
Striving to empower our local communities to build a healthier world.
Run the Dam started as the Over the Dam Run in 1976 when a group of local running enthusiasts decided that running in the August heat at 4:00pm was a great challenge. Over the next 4 decades the run would come and go, and eventually became a spring run.

In 2014 the name was changed to Run the Dam, and in 2016, moved back to the fall, to once again take in the autumn splendor that is our Coulee. In the same year Run the Dam became a nonprofit organization, and has been offering healthy outdoor activities in the Coulee and giving back to our community.

RTD is involved in more than just annual running events.
- RACE DIRECTOR LEADERSHIP: RTD supports other running events by assisting young race directors with their events. RTD acts as the financial conduit to handle the registration, awards, SWAG and race director mentorship so up-and-coming race directors get the solid start they need to succeed.
o Miles for Migraine: A local high school senior directed a 5k cross-country race, with proceeds going to a nonprofit that supports athletes who suffer from migraine.

o Care & Share Food Bank: A local college freshman held her first 5k event in North Dam Park. The proceeds benefited the local food bank.

- SUPPORT FOR OUTDOOR PARKS & RECREATION: Run the Dam serves, in an advisory capacity, to the Electric City Park
Committee, a City-funded, resident-organized group committed to build a city park. RTD is working toward raising funds to install a PARCOURSE in the park for the community to enjoy.

Run the Dam is constantly looking for ways to expand our reach, and offering exciting new events. The board is made up of 5 brilliant women who serve the organization with gusto and pride.

In addition to the 5k, 10k and half marathon offered in the Coulee, our dreams include a point-to-point full marathon
that will travel along the stunning Coulee walls beside Banks Lake from Coulee City to Electric City.
